Is the alternative medicine an alternative?
 In the modern society the alternative healing method makes its reputation as safer, more naturalistic way of treatment, without secondary effects. This is also due to the impossibility of the modern medicine to cope successfully even with some of the not so serious diseases like the banal cold for example. Many alternative treatment methods in some cases prove to be more effective than the well-known drugs. On a world scale, according to an analysis of the World Health Organization the modern medicine takes only just the fourth place, more practiced are the Chinese medicine, the phytotherapy and homeopathy. Lately, on a larger scale are also practiced the bioenergy therapy, aromatherapy, the use of various kinds of food supplements with healing properties, different massage and energy techniques, like Shamballa Multidimensional healing, Reiki, Juna method etc.
Characteristic of the most alternative healing methods is their holistic approach to the patient, i.e. they treat it as a whole, not as isolated parts.
From historical point of view this medicine division appears only in the last few decades. The people keep thousands of herbal recipes which are used even today and are not only very efficient but are also not so harmful like the modern pharmacy products. Besides it is not surprisingly at all that most of the people, who are aware of these facts, look more and more for the various methods of alternative medicine.
