The numbers – essence of life
Numerology or the fortune-telling with numbers, goes back quite a long way. Nowadays we can't say exactly when and where this hidden knowledge revealed itself, but numerological systems existed in ancient Egypt and Babylon. Numerology becomes particularly important for the theosophy Kabbalah, where its variety is popular as gematria.
The numerology as a science, philosophy and psychology of the numbers contains the wisdom of life. The Greek philosopher Pythagoras (c.580-500 BCE) is one of the early numerologists, whose theories exert great influence on the modern numerological science. He believed that the numbers are the essence of life.
Numerology divides all numbers into compound and prime. As a rule the prime numbers are from 1 to 9, although in the Kabbalah numerology to the primes are also included 11, 12, 13, 22 and 40. There are also many other, special systems, containing their own prime numbers. The compound numbers are converted into primes. For example:
178 => 1 + 7 + 8 = 16 => 1 + 6 = 7
In a numerological horoscope there are two main numbers – birthdate number and the number of the name. They are called personal numbers. The birthdate number is calculated based on the date of birth. For example, the birthdate number for a man born on 15 November, 1972 will be:
15 + 11 + 1972 = 1998 => 1 + 9 + 9 + 8 = 27 => 2 + 7 = 9.
The number of the name is calculated with the help of special tables, which convert the letters into numbers.
